AMERIND Native American All West Basketball Tournament
We had 53 teams this year; 29 boys and 24 girls. Total games would be around 222 for the weekend. 550 tickets were sold to the Nuggets game ($2 from each ticket went back into the Ulmer Scholarship fund as a donation). The Nuggets game was completely sold out ad a few teams ended up with standing room only tickets that allowed them to roam the first level during the game and visit Bill Hanzlik at the broadcasting booth! Seven Ulmer Scholarships of $4000 each were given out. This is the first year each scholarship is worth $4000 and it was the most total scholarships ever awarded in one year. Our speaker was Mike Dunlap, Assistant Coach, Denver Nuggets and a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coach of the Year and winner of two NCAA division II national championships while at Metro State .
